The History of Weinman Insurance

 

1892, Mr. J.L. (James Lytle) Browne started a loan and real estate business in Indianola, IA

1908, J.L. Browne takes on his first business partner, Simpson College attendee, Clarence C. Schrier.

1909, We find the first exact records of the Browne & Schrier Insurance firm.

1911, J.L. Browne becomes very ill and his son Harry L. Browne returns from Colorado to be with his ailing father and join the firm.

1948, Browne & Schrier hire Guy A. Risinger and an agreement is made that after three years he will be able to buy into the firm.

1949, It is announced in the Indianola Tribune that the firm will be known as Browne, Schrier & Risinger.

1954, Clarence C. Schrier dies of a severe heart attack.

1955, In need of a new partner, Browne & Risinger approach Simpson College graduate, James H. Weinman to join their firm.

1958, The firm becomes known as Browne, Risinger & Weinman.

1966, Mr. Harry L. Browne died while in New York with his daughter.

1967, Risinger & Weinman is combined with the adjoining building to the east, to form the office as pictured above.

1973, Jim's son Joe Weinman joins the agency after graduating from Drake University.

1977, Jim's son JR Weinman joins the agency after working for Farmers Casualty Insurance.

1980, Guy A. Risinger retires.

1988, The agency begins doing business as Weinman Insurance Services

1998, Jim Weinman retires and Joe Weinman becomes the President.
